Overall Purpose of the Job
• Work within a team of property underwriters according to respective territories
• Underwrite and manage a book of facultative business
• Manage a portfolio profitably to meet/exceed company targets
• Build excellent relationships with clients through regular planned market visits
Reporting Relations
Report To : Head of Property & Engineering, Facultative
Direct Report : N.A.
Specific Responsibilities
• Grow a book of facultative risks in designated territories in line with ACR’s target industries/occupancies, portfolio mix and profit expectations
• Be accountable for the quality and completeness of its records
• Actively serve the current client base – cedants and intermediaries – through regular dialogues and technical exchanges
• Assist in reviewing and contributing towards the enhancement or fine-tuning of the company’s guidelines as well as relevant policies, as required
• Involve in formulating market-specific strategies
• Assist senior underwriters in providing training and development to other team members, or members from other functional units such as Claims, other lines of business
• Assist in keeping track of the claims incurred and in the handling and settlement of the claims, when and where needed
• Any other duties that may be assigned by management
Required Skills / Work Experience
• At least 5 years of underwriting experience in facultative, practical experience in risk analysis and use of rating methods, as well as familiarity with standard wordings and clauses prevalent in the various markets
• Good knowledge of the risk landscape in the underlying industries as well as familiarity with the markets, distribution systems and key players
• Able to use state-of-the-art underwriting techniques
• Relevant industry experience in the risks to be underwritten by the candidate is desirable
• Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team
• Independent worker
Required Qualifications
• Degree holder and/or ACII qualification or equivalent
• Candidates without the required education and/or professional qualifications but with relevant experience and proven track record may also be considered
